MISSION CONTROLLER of the Loccent, the command center for the Jaeger force, Tendo brings some pachuco flair to the Shatterdome. “It`s the future, and all trends are cyclical,” says actor Clifton Collins Jr. “He`s probably got a criminal past of sorts. He`s a redeemed con, basically.” His job is part air traffic controller and part technician. “I guess I`d be like our version of Q,” says Collins with a laugh. “He`s eager to get the job done and get it done right, and he tries not to crack under pressure.”
Beacham says of Tendo, “I really felt like we needed someone in there to exemplify the grease monkey, the invisible hero of the operation, without whom the whole thing could`t run, but who doesn`t have his face on a sexy propaganda poster like the pilots.”
